 BT NTE5 Lower Faceplate

Our BT NTE5 lower faceplates are designed to replace existing lower faceplates.
This version comes with a Bellwire filter to help provide protection from RFI disturbances that can affect your Broadband signal.

Will this fit my existing socket? 

If you have a current NTE5 socket yes this will fit. Please note: this will not fit the NTE5c.

My existing lower faceplate has more than 3 connections?

Several years ago, BT Openreach changed the design, most commonly only two of the connections are used, numbers (2 and 5) connection number 3 is used when a bellwire is in use. (Some older phones and bells use this and is no longer common) Most internal cable that is used is what we call 3 pair (3 sets of wires) Commonly these are a pair of blues a pair of oranges and a pair of greens) We normally use the blue pair for telephone extensions and connect these to connectors 2 and 5. The other wires maybe connected but are not normally needed.

How do you fit this?

The lower faceplate is really simple to install. Unscrew the two small screws located on the front of the plate. Insert your new lower faceplate and screw back together. If you have extension sockets, take a photo of the existing connections and use an idc punch tool to put them back on.

Are any special tools needed?

If you have extensions that come off of the master socket then you will need an idc tool to punch the wires back in. This is relatively simple and are available on the website just search 'punch tool'. If there are no extensions then only a small phillips crosshead screwdriver is need.

Do I need BT Openreach to do this?

No, usually if you have a fault your line supplier will ask you to take this lower faceplate off and plug your phone into the 'test socket'. If the fault disappears it is assumed the problem is on the customer side of the network. This can be with either internal wiring or a faulty lower faceplate. As the lower faceplate is the cheapest part to replace this can be easily changed by yourself and save on a call out charge from your line supplier.

Here at BCE Direct we aim to dispatch your items the same working day however we do have various collection times from our couriers and some items may go the next working day. 

Delivery Rates are calculated during the checkout process depending on the weight of the item to be posted.

We have kept our rates as low as possible without compromising service.



Do you have a minimum order requirement?

No there is no minimum order requirement, all of our delivery charges are calculated at the checkout based on weight. Whilst others offer free postage, they add the costs to the item price. We charge one fee for postage and ultimately our items are cheaper overall.

My item is showing as shipped but I haven't received a tracking number?

If your item is showing as despatched but a tracking number is not shown don't worry your item is on it's way. We send a lot of items via Royal Mail and their tracking numbers are uploaded to our systems overnight. 

Can I collect my items?

Unfortunately we do not have the facilities for collection, however our delivery rates are very cheap and next day delivery is available.

Which couriers do you use?

Here at BCE Direct we a use a mixture of several couriers these include but are not limited to, APC Overnight, Royal Mail, FexEx, DPD, UPS, TNT and DHL.




Bristol Communications and Electrical ltd accept returns on all items within 14 days. If there is no fault with the product, the buyer must pay the return postage costs, of which are non-refundable.

If we deem the items returned to be in an unsatisfactory condition we reserve the right to charge up to 40% of the final selling price. This cost will be decided upon receipt of goods. Within this percentage will be the costs to repair/refurbish/repackage items.

Items that are being returned due to buyer error will be refunded MINUS postage costs. Postage costs are set within many of our overall prices, postage costs will be deducted from final refund amounts.

If there was an error on our side, for example incorrect or damaged items we will except all responsibility for postage costs and a full refund will be given.

Please note: You have the right to cancel within 14 days of delivery, if this deadline has passed we will not accept the return request.
