Share
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up Intrusion Detection on both Hikvision NVR (Network Video Recorder) and DVR (Digital Video Recorder), including enabling mobile notifications via the Hik-Connect app.
Step 1: Enable Intrusion Detection on the NVR or DVR
-
Log in to Your NVR or DVR
- Access the device interface via the connected monitor, a web browser, or client software (e.g., iVMS-4200).
-
Navigate to Intrusion Detection Settings
- Go to Configuration > Event > Smart Event > Intrusion Detection (NVRs) or Configuration > Event > Advanced Event > Intrusion Detection (DVRs, if supported).
-
Enable Intrusion Detection
- Select the camera channel where intrusion detection will be applied.
- Tick the Enable checkbox to activate the feature.
-
Define the Intrusion Area
- Use the on-screen tools to draw a polygon that defines the intrusion zone.
- Adjust the zone’s size and position to cover the area you want to monitor for unauthorised entry.
-
Set Trigger Rules
- Duration Threshold: Set the minimum time an object must remain in the intrusion zone to trigger an alarm.
-
Target Detection: Choose the types of objects to detect:
- Human: Only alerts for human movements.
- Vehicle: Only alerts for vehicles entering the zone.
- Both: Alerts for both humans and vehicles.
-
Link Notifications to the Surveillance Center
- Under Linkage Action, enable Notify Surveillance Center to allow alerts to be sent to the Hik-Connect app.
- Optionally, enable additional actions such as Trigger Alarm Output, Send Email, or Recording.
Step 2: Enable Notifications on the Hik-Connect App
2.1 Configure Notification Settings in the App
- Open the Hik-Connect app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Go to Device Settings for your NVR or DVR, and select the specific camera channels with Intrusion Detection enabled.
- Enable Alarm Notifications for these channels.
2.2 Adjust Notification Preferences
- Ensure notifications for the Hik-Connect app are enabled on your mobile device:
- iOS: Go to Settings > Notifications > Hik-Connect, and toggle on Allow Notifications.
- Android: Go to Settings > Apps > Hik-Connect > Notifications, and ensure all notification options are enabled.
- Customise the type of notifications you want to receive (e.g., sound, vibration, or pop-up alerts).
2.3 Test the Intrusion Detection System
- Simulate an intrusion by entering the defined zone in the camera’s field of view.
- Verify that your mobile device receives the intrusion alert.
Troubleshooting Tips
-
No Notification Received:
- Ensure the NVR or DVR is connected to the internet.
- Double-check that the intrusion zone is correctly defined and that Notify Surveillance Center is enabled in the settings.
- Verify that the Hik-Connect app is properly linked to your device.
-
Too Many False Alarms:
- Refine the polygonal zone to avoid high-traffic areas or irrelevant objects.
- Adjust the Duration Threshold to filter out brief movements.
- Use Human/Vehicle Filtering (if supported) to reduce alerts from animals, foliage, or other irrelevant objects.
By setting up Intrusion Detection on your Hikvision NVR or DVR, you can enhance your security system's effectiveness and receive real-time alerts on your mobile device for any unauthorised activity.
